Texas Holdem is the most popular variant of poker being played today.

Texas Holdem is really an easy game to learn, and starting with Holdem Poker rules and basics is usually best.

One of the main reasons for the game's popularity comes from the fact that anyone can play it. Mastering the shades of the game can take much longer, but do not worry about it we're just getting started.

Texas Holdem poker rules state that it is to be played with a basic 52 card deck. Poker wasn't always played with 52 cards though.

The cards themselves are ranked in the following order: Ace, King, Queen, Jack, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. the cards are also separated into 4 suits. Each suit is of equal value. They are:

• Hearts
• Diamonds
• Clubs
• Spades

Unlike many casino games where you are dealt your cards, bet, and then it's over, Holdem has a bit more to it.

A round of Holdem begins with each player receiving two cards (or hole cards) and then there is a round of betting. After several rounds of betting, the winner is the player that can make the best five cards using the cards he has available (his hole cards, and the community cards).
