Maryland Terrapins The Hottest Team In The ACC

Maryland Terrapins are having a ball. They have just won their fourth straight game and this has elevated them to the top half of the Atlantic Coast Conference standing and this also means that they are now in a position to vie for a spot in the NCAA tournament, a tournament they have not reached in the last two years.

Maryland still have three more games left in the regular season and currently they are 21-7. They are now planning to get a high seeding in the 65 team tournaments and want to be playing in the postseason.

The Terrapins won four games on a trot and now want to win their fifth one. At least that is what center Ekene Ibekwe said. If they manage to beat North Carolina, who are currently in the first place, they surely get the attention of the NCAA tournament selection committee.

Maryland knows how important the game against North Carolina is. Freshman Greivis Vasquez said that it is their biggest game of the season and if they win they would get a higher seeding. Before they won the four consecutive games, the Terrapins would have been content to get a No. 16 seeding. However, this is not the case now. After their 4 game winning streak, for the first time in a year they are over .500 in the league.

Maryland is now considered to be the hottest team in the Atlantic Coast Conference and they want to keep it that way. A few weeks ago there were doubts about the Terrapins and coach Gary Williams had said that the team was better than what it seemed. It now looks as if he was right, though they still have a long way to go.
